Center of the Archipelago, Mother of all Data (Luzon datum of 1911)

I was amazed by the information I have learned, couple of months ago, that there was a land mark, historical land mark actually, situated near the place where I grew up. During my early years in my hometown, I haven't heard anything about it. I know the place actually, but I didn't know that there is such thing like this which can be found in the place. Even my parents and my grandparents don't talked about it. My teachers in school don't informed us about it. Maybe it is because no proper documentation has been made about this thing.

What I am talking about is the Luzon Datum of 1911 which is actually celebrating it centennial this year.


Luzon Datum of 1911 is a Geodetic Center of the Philippines. It was established by the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey (USCGS) now National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). A geodetic marker drilled in a cubic meter of diorite rock on a mountain top located at the boundaries of Argao, Hinanggayon, and Silangan at Mogpog. 13°33'41"N, 121°52'3"E


This important geodetic point marker serves as point number one for all map markers in the country at first level accuracy.

I can't believe that a thing like this exist in the place where I live. And in the celebration of its 100 years of existence the local government put up a Historical Centennial Marker in the place. They also put up a gazebo for those who will find it as a tourist spot.

I'm sure this is one thing, a Marinduqueno like me must be proud of.

Half full. half empty

Have you ever experienced the feeling that you have done everything but at the end of the day, there is something missing. The feeling of longing for someone or craving for something that you can't really identify whom it is or what it is. The feeling that you're almost full, but deep within, you're your empty.

I can't find the right word to describe it. It is hard to explain how does it feel but for sure it sucks, totally sucks.

Faith sometime tests us on how we are going to deal with challenges in life. But the hardest thing to deal with is love. It's hard to make decision when your mind and your heart don't agree with each other. It's difficult to decide which one is to follow. Your heart says that you deserve to be happy, but your mind has reservation that you might get hurt again. You're afraid that you might feel the same feeling like before.

On the other side, what if you try it. It might be the right one that you have been waiting for. After all, you're always hurt before. You already know how to cope with it. The most important thing is that you love in the best that you can.

Madalas gusto nating tuklasin ang mga bagay-bagay sa ating paligid. Nais nating malaman ang katotohan upang kahit papano masagot ang mga katanungang naglalaro sa ating mga isip. Mga bagay na nagpapahirap sa ating kalooban.

Ngunit papaano kung ang katotohanang ating malalaman ay magdudulot pala ng mas matinding sakit sa ating  puso? Handa ba tayong tanggapin ang mga katotohang ito?

Kaya pa bang indahin ng sagatan mong puso ang panibagong kirot na dulot ng katotohanang ito?

It's already past 12 nang dumating kami sa resort sa Matabungkay. Nagpahinga lang kami ng konte then we started preparing our food. Inihaw na isda at liempo. Isang masarap na tanghalian para sa lahat.

Dahil mataas pa ang sikat ng araw at nakakasunog ng balat, nagpasya muna ang grupo na matulog upang may lakas para mamayang gabi.
