This article/case study has been made by my brother during his college days as one of his requirement in his class. As I browse my files in my laptop, it happened that I saw this one and I decided to post it in my blog for the reason maybe that someone from our province might read it. The content of this article mirrors the life of our fellow countrymen who have been taken for granted long time ago.

ISLAND HOPPING: MAGKABILANG DIMENSYON
(Part 1)
by: Nestler L. Lantita

What a great experience it was!!!
Mountain climbers turned into island hoppers. Glecery Molbog, Amieh Chlem Logatoc, Jaylyn Rotulo, Christine Mirones, Dessane Jalotjot, Jholey Rose Leano, Joanna Mae Rizo and yours truly, Nestler Lantita with special participation of Beverly Molbog and Joshua Leynes.
I thought that during the mid-term examination, we were inside the Marinduque State College campus reading our notes, reviewing our lessons and get ready for the examination. It was a common scenario that during the examination period, students are seating on the bench, or staying at the corridor, or in the gazebo or inside the library reviewing our notes. But instead of doing that, we decided to go to one of the islands in Gasan which is Gaspar and in Sta. Cruz which is Maniwaya. Yes, it is true and that is a part of our mid-term examination under Mr. Randy T. Nobleza. Since our topic for the research study is about island life, then off we went to the two islands.
Sunday morning, I went early to Glecery’s house. I forgot that she and Jaylyn were on Buenavista already so I found Amieh there. We waited for Dessane inside the house. Dessane came then the three of us went to Geh’s store.
Ate Bhevz, Geh’s sister decided to go with us. All things were packed up. We were just waiting for Tin2x, Jhoy and Josh. We spent so much time waiting for them. Jhoy and Tin2x came. Josh was not yet there. So we decided to go and just texted Josh to follow us if he wanted to go with us. We rode in a jeepney going to Pinggan. It was the place where we supposed to meet each other. Anna was waiting for us so long. We talked first to the Brgy. Captain of Pinggan and interviewed him and asked some questions. After that, we got ready to go to Gaspar. We hired a motorboat to bring us in the island. After 30 minutes, we reached the place.
It was a very beautiful place, nice sea water, nice view, fresh air but we found out that there is a problem when it comes to their drinking water, no septic tanks, no enough supply of electricity and it seemed like the people living there were not civilized. How sad truth it was.
During our stay in that place, since our target is to conduct a study about the place and the people living there, we interviewed some of the people. We had a nice time with them. They are all accommodating. Before we left the place, we were toured by the Brgy. Kagawad around the island and we were all amazed with the wonderful view.
We headed back to Pinggan and went back to Boac because Anna had to take her exam with Mrs. Montejo. After her exam, we packed up again and off we went to Sta. Cruz.
It was late in the afternoon when we reached Sta. Cruz and the weather was not so good that was why our trip to Maniwaya was postponed. We slept over at the house of Dessane’s auntie and early in the morning, we rode in a tricycle to Buyabod. Then, we rode in a motorboat again to Maniwaya island.
Fortunately, the sea was calm that time. We reached Maniwaya at around 9:00. We went first to the Brgy. Captain’s house and asked few questions. We interviewed some people there. We found out that Maniwayan people are more civilized than that of the people in Gaspar but they are not that accommodating though. The place was so beautiful, and the white sand along the beaches add more to it. We went also to Japan house and to Maniwaya National High School.
After that, we stayed along the seashore and then headed back to Buyabod port. Then we traveled back to Boac. It was a very tiresome day, a very long trip but an enjoyable moment and we had a great bonding.
