I still remember when I was in SM San Lazaro as head of our branch there. One day, I thought it was just an ordinary day for me. Same things to do, same people to be with. Then suddenly a young lady approached me at the counter of our store. As a rule, I greeted her loud and clear and with warmth (customer service is one of the important things on us). She smiled at me and ask me if she can have a spare of my time. Since, there not a lot of things to do, I smiled at her and say, "yes ma'am you can."
The girl asks me, "Sir gusto po ba ninyo maging angel?". I didn't answer because I really don't have idea on what she is saying. At the back of my mind, I ask myself, "Ano to, nangtitrip? Eh, mas madalas pa nga ako mag online keysa magsimba.( But I pray naman). Lakas ng trip mo te ah. The girl starts on explaining what she's got when she noticed that I was hesitant to answer. She said that she is from UNICEF, and that they are looking for angels to be "Champion of the Children".
I said to myself, ah yun pala sinasabi nito na angel daw. Wish ko lang. . . Hahaha. The process goes like this. To be a donor, you should have a credit card (of course yung hindi expired. Hehe). A certain amount will be automatically charged on your card every month. The amount is not that big and I think I can afford it every month so I decided be one of the donors. I really have a soft heart for the children and I believed everybody has. And I think this is another way of giving thanks to the Lord for all the blessings that He showered on me.
Up to now I am still a donor of UNICEF and once in a while, a thank you card, a token of appreciation is being sent to me from the children of UNICEF.
We all have our own battle to fight. Win or lose, let us keep on touching the life of others... Learn to share... Learn to Give... Learn to Love... when you have opportunity to do so. We are brothers after all.
